ITI Instructor Affiliation
The SCUBA dive industry has a long record of ANNUALLY visually inspecting cylinders. This is commonly referred to as the VIP. Cylinder training services has a strong association within this industry. Since so may dive stores, instructors and technical divers request this course, we have developed an instructor training program designed specifically for them, and administered through International Training (SDI/TDI/ERDI).
We offer Instructor level classes to teach the International Training Incorporated (ITI) curriculum in Cylinder Visual Inspections.
The costs are all inclusive; instructor materials (text and PowerPoint USB), student text, instructor training manual, registration and certification.
Instructors are required to attend both the Instructor class as well as the Student class but only pay the one fee. The purpose of attending the student class is to witness and participate in the program, see how the new program flows and assist with the training. The instructor class goes over the logistics of the teaching, marketing and answers any questions that are specific to instructors and how to make this program work.
There are two training options; current ITI instructors and those dive instructors wishing to cross over to SDI/TDI/ERDI. Affiliated refers to those persons or facilities associated with ITI (SDI/TDI/ERDI).
Crossover instructors can be from any recognized dive training organization.
- 18 years of age
- Affiliated with an organization with a high pressure compressor and / or fill station
- Proof of inspecting cylinders for a minimum of 6 months after completing formalized training
- Have proof of having inspected at least 50 cylinders
- Proof of current and active diving instructor or assistant instructor rating with a recognized training agency
Approximate cost $750 (not including any travel)
This pricing structure is designed for those persons or facilities associated with International Training (ITI) which include SDI/TDI and ERDI. Persons affiliated with ITI are assumed to have a facility # or to be associated with a facility # through ITI. If you have a question as to status you can visit their Website (TDISDI.COM) and conduct a search.
For the visual inspector instructor program you need to be a current Assistant instructor, Instructor or Instructor Trainer
The fee includes the following:
- Upgrade fee with ITI to be registered to teach the visual program
- Instructor guide
- VIP PowerPoint program
- Student manual
- One-day inspection program (Instructors must attend a one-day course being taught by a currently certified visual instructor)
- ½ day instructor program to review the program and materials to be used during the program
$1300 (approximate – may require travel expenses)
The ITI crossover program is designed for current dive instructors who also want to teach programs through International Training Incorporated (SDI/TDI & ERDI). If you currently teach through another agency and have been thinking about crossing over or teaching technical or public safety diving, ALONG with the cylinder visual inspection program, this is the most economical option.
It also allows the person to brand their facility on certification cards and be listed on the ITI website for people searching for the Visual Inspection program. This is a full crossover and provides the instrutor the ability to cross over all of their current diving certifications to SDI/TDI/ERDI (depending on current status and recognition). For an additional fee, the instructor can also apply to become an ITI facility (ask for current pricing). This option requires annual instructor dues and annual facility dues (if applicable), but gives you the option of obtaining instructor insurance.
